                         INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS


INTRODUCTION:
     XEATI.SYS is a device driver that allows ATI mach32 and ULTRA video
boards to work correctly in Deskpro XE 486 family products.


SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS:
	a COMPAQ Deskpro XE 486 computer
	MS-DOS Version 3 or greater


WHO SHOULD USE:
  Users of ATI mach32 (and GRAPHICS ULTRA) family products who suffer
any of the following problems when installed in a Deskpro XE 486 machine:

  - ATI INSTALL.EXE program will abort and report following error message:
                 " CLEARING EEPROM
		   EEPROM FAILED
		   INSTALLATION ABORTED."

  - ATI TEST.EXE program will fail EEPROM test in "Component Tests"
    section of program.

  - Starting Windows causes garbage to appear on screen.


HOW TO USE:

	  1.  Copy the program XEATI.SYS from the distribution diskette
    to your system diskette or fixed disk.

	  2.  Using an editor, add a line to your CONFIG.SYS file;

	      Example:   device = XEATI.SYS

	      NOTE: Make sure this is the FIRST line in your CONFIG.SYS.


	  3.  The are not any command line parameters for XEATI.

	  4.  When XEATI.SYS has successfully run, you will get
    the following message:

EFFECTS ON YOUR SYSTEM:
	XEATI.SYS does not leave anything resident in memory.
